DRS Explained: The Rule That Changes How F1 Races Are Won

The Drag
Reduction System, or DRS, allows a trailing driver within one second of the
car ahead to open a flap on their rear wing in designated zones, reducing
drag and boosting top speed to enable overtakes. Introduced to combat the
difficulty of passing in high-downforce cars, DRS has become one of the most
debated rules in modern F1 — loved for creating more overtakes, criticized by
some for making them feel too easy.
