Unlike
car racing, MotoGP riders can’t hide behind a pit wall calling strategy in
real time — most decisions happen in the rider’s head, mid-race, based on
tire feel and instinct. There are no pit stops for tires in a standard MotoGP
race, which means the tire choice made before lights-out has to last the
entire distance, making pre-race strategy calls even more consequential than
in most motorsport disciplines.
