Teams
rarely run identical setups for qualifying and the race. A one-lap qualifying
setup prioritizes maximum downforce and a light fuel load for outright speed,
while the race setup balances tire degradation, fuel consumption, and
long-run pace over dozens of laps. Ride height, wing angles, and even brake
bias are often adjusted between sessions — small changes that can make a car
feel completely different to drive.
